Grow with confidence
Friendly, safe and encouraging Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for children and young people in Lyneham. We help students build confidence, movement skills and resilience in a people-first environment.
A welcoming start
A strong foundation for life
Our Kids and Youth classes introduce Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through clear instruction, thoughtful coaching and enjoyable movement. Students learn to use balance, leverage and problem solving while developing confidence at their own pace.
Whether your child is trying martial arts for the first time or looking for a positive next step, they will be supported by coaches who care about the person as much as the technique.
Two age groups
Training that meets them where they are
Kids BJJ — ages 5 to 9
A fun, playful introduction to movement and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, designed to keep younger students engaged while building positive habits and a strong physical foundation.
- Movement-based games and coordination
- Basic grappling skills and body awareness
- Healthy boundaries and respectful teamwork
- Confidence through play and achievement
Youth BJJ — ages 10 to 15
A focused, fun and empowering class for young people ready to develop their skills, challenge themselves and grow in confidence within a supportive training community.
- Technical instruction and practical movement
- Problem solving, tactics and controlled partner work
- Discipline, composure and personal responsibility
- Confidence and connection through community
Ages are a guide, not a rule. A child can move up to the older class early if they are mature enough for it, decided in consultation with their parents. The same applies when a young person is ready to move from Youth into the adult classes.
When they train
Kids and Youth timetable
| Day | Time | Class |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday | 4:15–5:00pm | Kids (ages 5–9) |
| Tuesday | 5:00–5:45pm | Youth (ages 10–15) |
Each class runs once a week during the school term, and is capped at twelve students. You can pay weekly at $30, by the term at $265, or with a 10-class pack at $325 — all including GST, and nothing is charged in the school holidays. See prices.
Their first week is free
Mike teaches both the Tuesday classes, so a child's free first week is that class — Kids at 4:15pm for ages 5 to 9, Youth at 5:00pm for ages 10 to 15. They train with the head coach, in the class they would actually join.
Register their week with your own name and email and we will be in touch to sort out the details, or send us a message first if you would rather ask a few questions.

From parents
What families tell us
Two reviews from parents whose children train here.
Really inclusive environment for my son in the youth class to learn BJJ, but moreso it has lifted his self-confidence. I’ve seen his independence and resilience grow since joining Rogue BJJ, and he just loves going to it every week.
I feel respected by all at Rogue no matter the rank of person I’m training with. I liked it so much I’ve got my son involved and it’s been great seeing him progress.
Quoted from our Google reviews, where you can read all of them. We have not edited them beyond trimming for length.
For parents
A safe place to learn
Choosing a martial arts club for your child is an important decision. Rogue is built around personal growth, careful coaching and a supportive mat culture.
The question parents ask most often is about chokes. The honest answer is written out in full, including which techniques are excluded from the Kids class outright, and why the armbar worries us more than the choke does: chokes and safety.
Mike's registrations and qualifications
- Current Working With Vulnerable People registration
- Current first aid
- A qualified workplace trainer and assessor
He teaches both the Tuesday classes himself. If you would like to see any of it before your child starts, just ask.
Will my child have to compete?
No. Rogue is a non-competition club. We focus on learning, confidence and healthy movement rather than trophies or pressure to compete.
What if they have never done martial arts before?
No prior experience is needed. We will help you work out which class is the right fit for your child and make their first visit feel comfortable.
What should they bring?
Comfortable activewear and a water bottle are all that is needed to get started. We will explain the rest when you enquire.
How big are the classes?
Every class at Rogue is capped at twelve students. The only extra people on the mat are additional instructors.
Is there a free first week for my child?
Yes. It is the Tuesday class — Kids at 4:15pm or Youth at 5:00pm — and Mike teaches both, so your child trains with the head coach in the class they would go on to join. Register their week and we will be in touch.
Can we just turn up to a class?
No — Rogue does not take walk-ins. Please get in touch first so we can talk about which class suits your child and arrange their first visit.

Find the right class for your child
Their first week is free, in Mike's Tuesday class. We are happy to answer your questions first and help your family take the next step.
