Self Defence class
Self Defence
Practical self-defence skills for the real world. Build lasting confidence and resilience in a safe, supportive environment.
The class
Practical readiness
Self Defence prepares you for real situations through functional training. We focus on developing the physical tools and the mental focus you need to navigate a difficult moment safely.
Whether you want to improve your personal safety or build fitness and agility, the class emphasises coordination and composure in a community-focused setting. Nothing here depends on being the strongest person in the room.
Fitness and strength
Functional movement that improves your ability to respond effectively, built up gradually rather than tested on day one.
Coordination and focus
Train mind and body to work together, so what you have practised is available to you when you are under pressure.
Confidence
Build the quiet kind of confidence that comes from technical skills you have actually tested with a partner.

Coaching
A multidisciplinary approach
The coaching at Rogue draws on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, unarmed combat and wrestling. That mix is what makes the Self Defence class practical rather than theoretical: you learn what to do when the situation does not look like the drill.
Mike Armstrong spent twenty-three years in the Australian Army, retiring as a Major, and was a senior instructor on its combatives courses — teaching unarmed skills to Defence members and allied forces. He has taught martial arts since 1992.
